Blogger Khakim Mukharam's instagram account was hacked on the 25th of September. Posts started appearing on his account urging his followers to visit a site linked in his bio. The site invited users to make easy money by participating in promo schemes of dubious origin. Mukharam told followers that the link had been posted by scammers: 'I was hacked five days ago. I have spent the last five days trying to regain access to my account. All my numbers, email addresses and facebook account which were linked to my instagram page disappeared, and I have was left without access to Instagram.', the blogger commented after his access was restores. Mukharam informed followers of the hacking immediately after his access was restored, and alerted law enforcement.
