The Oktyabrsky District Court of Ivanovo sent Sergey Veselov, a blogger from Shuya, to custody until March 16 in his new criminal case on calls to terrorism (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). On January 22, 2024, Veselov was detained by Federal Security Service officers using force. He said that he received bruises during the detention, although he did not resist. Previously, the man was under an undertaking not to leave. The blogger faced criminal prosecution first in March 2022: then, a case of vandalism (Part 1 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was brought against him because of the inscription «No to war» on the building of the city administration. Later, the charges were toughened, adding the motive of political hatred (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
