Sergei Gordievich, a former correspondent of the independent regional website Pershi Regien, was arrested by the Drogichinsky district police department. He is accused of "distributing, producing, storing media containing incitement of extremism" under Article 19.11 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus. Before trial, he was placed in a temporary detention center. On January 26, 2024, the case was considered in the Drogichinsky district court. Judge Julia Kuksa found him guilty and sentenced him to 15 days in jail. As the Belorussian association of Journalists noted, the judge failed to take into account the fact that Sergei's health had deteriorated significantly: he lost consciousness and required medical attention several times. On the evening of February 8 he was released.
