Journalist Abdukodir Talbakov reported that he was fired from his job at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. However, the Academy’s management stated that Talbakov quit at his own request. Abdukodir Talbakov is an active social media user, and many of his posts focus on social issues; he also engages in heated discussions with young people, whom he describes as «radicalised». On October 21, he reported on Facebook that he had indeed written a letter of resignation at his own request, but that he had actually been «fired». On October 22, in a personal conversation with Radio Ozodi journalists, he said that the management «asked» him to write a resignation letter. When asked whether his Facebook posts could have been the reason for this decision, Talbakov said: «Yes, perhaps». The interlocutor declined to comment further.
