During the night of September 20th, Qazmedia.kz reporter Svetlana Drozdetskaya was assigned to accompany members of the police department on a raid in Petropavlovsk. As she worked, she was attacked by an inebriated man, who tried to knock her phone out of her hands. After he was stopped by law enforcement, his wife began to abuse Droztetskaya, using extremely foul language. Drozdetskaya filed a complaint of petty hooliganism. As a result, the man was found guilty of petty hooliganism by a civil court and arrested for 5 days. His wife was also found guilty of committing a civil offence under the same statute, and was issued a fine.
