The Tsentralny District Court of Kemerovo partially satisfied the lawsuit of three colonies against Novashov and five heroes of his material about the torture of prisoners, published in June 2020. The court ordered Novashov to refute more than 20 phrases from the publication. The defendants were charged RUB 62,500 rubles for the expert examination. On July 9, the court upheld the decision in the case of Novashov. In addition, the regional court increased the amount of court costs charged to the journalist from RUB 60,000 to 70,500.
