The blogger was criminally prosecuted under the article on incitement to hatred or hostility for his January video about the return and arrest of Alexey Navalny. On July 5, Alfyorov’s flat was searched. During the search, law enforcers seized Alfyorov’s new phone. After the search, he was interrogated without a lawyer, despite the relevant petitions, and detained for 48 hours until the selection of a measure of restraint. From July 5 to 7, he was held in a temporary detention centre. On July 7, Alferov was detained for 72 hours more. On the way back, he was transferred from the convoy vehicle Kamaz to Gazelle. The driver was travelling at high speed, stopping and turning sharply, so that Alfyorov, his mother reports, «flew in the iron box from corner to corner», banged up his knees and shoulders. The doctors at the detention center recorded the injuries and drew up a report. On July 9, Alfyorov was sent under house arrest until September 1.
