On June 28, the Criminal Collegium of the Bishkek City Court, chaired by Ulan Sadyrbekov, changed the verdict of the court of first instance on the basis of the prosecution’s submission and sentenced activist Kanykey Aranova to 3 years and 6 months in prison. Aranova was charged under the following articles of of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic: Article 330 (incitement of racial, ethnic, national, religious interregional enmity (discord)) and Article 327 (public calls for violent seizure of power). It was also decided to hand over the 11-year-old daughter of the convict to the care of relatives. Aranova was detained in Moscow on February 1, 2024. After detention, she was taken to Kyrgyzstan together with her 11-year-old daughter.
