The law enforcers searched the flat of the journalist of the private regional TV company Ranak Andrey Lipsky. The reason was allegedly investigative actions on the fact of insults and threats on the Internet by an unknown person against an employee of the Investigative Committee. As a result, two smartphones were seized: the journalist’s and his minor daughter’s. After the search, the law enforcers took Lipsky to the Svietlahorsk District Police Department and drew up an administrative report on him for possession/distribution of extremist materials. He was placed in a temporary detention centre until the trial. Fearing further persecution by the authorities, Lipsky soon left Belarus.
