The Tsentralny District Court of Khabarovsk sentenced Zhirnov to 10 days of arrest under Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (demonstration of Nazi symbols) and a fine of RUB 150,000 under Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences (repeated violation of the rally law). The journalist went on hunger strike in the special detention centre. He was detained on January 22 and left in police custody for a night until the trial.
