On June 27, KOK System LLC filed a suit with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction against businessman Samvel Matinyan and the founder of regional TV company Tavush TV, Tavush Media LLC, demanding to refute the information considered defamatory and to pay monetary compensation. The reason for the lawsuit was Samvel Matinyan’s report on the air of Tavush TV of May 28 that a bridge collapsed because of the hydro-electric power station built by KOK System, that the hydro-electric power station directorate blocked one of the water channels, etc. The plaintiff demands to oblige the TV company to publish Samvel Matinyan’s refutation, to collect from the latter monetary compensation for libel — AMD 1 million (over USD 2,500), the same amount as a lawyer’s fee, as well as to compensate other court expenses in the amount of AMD 70,000 (over USD 180). The lawsuit is being considered.
