On the night of May 22, Arina Malinouskaya left Belarus after the detention of six of her colleagues. On May 24, the journalist received a call from an investigator. He called in Telegram from the number of the girl’s sister’s husband and said that her relative and his friend «were at their place» and now «they are going after Valiantsina and Anatol Malinouski» — the journalist’s grandparents. Next, her sister’s husband called her and said that he was being «taken away», his colleague, who was at his flat, was also detained. Valiantsin said that they were asking him when she could come, and added that «they will not get rid of us, our parents or family.» In the same conversation, Kucherenka said that investigators only want to conduct a check on the administrative case. After that, he said, they took him to Akrestsina. Then, Malinouskaya had a conversation with the investigator again, who said that they wanted to see her to question her for the materials of the check.
