The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has sent journalist Artyom Kriger to a pre-trial detention centre until August 18, 2024. The hearing on his preventive measure was held in closed mode. Sota reports that Kriger is a suspect in a criminal case of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation (Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). While Kriger was being detained, his flat was searched. After the search, the journalist was taken for interrogation. Presumably, he is accused of links with Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation. The organisation is declared extremist and banned in Russia.
