A criminal case under the article «Incitement of racial, ethnic, national, religious interregional enmity (discord)» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic was initiated against the journalist Bayan Dzhumagulova for the word «arapkul» in her Facebook posts. She was also summoned for interrogation to the Sverdlovsky District Police Department in Bishkek. According to her, the officers «took away her phone and started copying information from it» and demanded that she not publish any more posts on social networks. Bayan Dzhumagulova has lived in Germany for many years and came to Bishkek in early June. She is a former correspondent of Radio Azattyk.
