Investigative journalist Aktilek Kaparov cut his hands in the pre-trial detention centre in protest and sent a «bloody letter» from the detention centre. Aktilek stated that he had been illegally deprived of liberty for five months, demanded his release, and cut his hands in protest. Blood stains could be seen on the pages of the letter. Kaparov was arrested along with other journalists on January 16. All reporters are accused of calls for mass riots, which were allegedly found in their materials. According to the journalists, the real reason was the publication of the investigation into the property of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and his relatives and the raiding of other people’s businesses by these people.
