The freelance correspondent of the Kazakh TV channel Khabar 24 Dzmitry Luksha was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony and a fine of BYN 16,000. The Minsk City Court (judge Natalia Buguk) declared the journalist guilty of «discrediting the Republic of Belarus» (Article 369-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) and participation in protests (Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). The Prosecutor General’s Office stated that «in order to discredit the country, with the help of a cameraman, he made a number of videos containing knowingly false information and transmitted them to the specified TV channel».
