On January 5, the editor-in-chief of Vlast.kz Tamara Vaal published on her social media pages a video of journalists chasing after Prosecutor General Berik Asylov, who on that day was reporting to MPs on the progress of the investigation into the events of January 2022. At the same time, the Prosecutor General’s press secretary Darhat Duysenbay actively prevented correspondents and cameramen from first moving up the stairs, and then closed the doors in front of them. «He shoved us, pushed us, slapped the leg of one of our colleagues, the shoulder of the second one was dislocated, and then looking at our and Berik Asylov’s faces, he said that he did not push us and did not interfere with our work», — wrote journalist Zhaniya Urankayeva.
