The correspondent of the newspaper Moy Gorod Kristina Kobina and the newspaper’s founder Media Start 2012 LLP were defendants in a lawsuit to protect the honour, dignity, and business reputation of the head of Batys Su Arnasy JSC Anuar Arkenov. According to the court decision of April 6, the journalist and the founder of the newspaper must transfer KZT 320,000 (about USD 700) to Arkenov jointly — compensation for moral damage, expenses for the assistance of a representative in court, and expenses for a judicial linguistic study. The court also ruled that the part of the headline stating that Anuar Arkenov was accused of embezzlement was inaccurate, defamatory of the plaintiff’s honour and dignity, and subject to refutation. The process was initiated in connection with the publication «The director of Batys Su Arnasy was accused of embezzlement of money and his deputy — of drunkenness».
