Blogger Batmakan Zholbolduyeva was released under house arrest until March 26, 2023. Batmakan was previously placed in pre-trial detention after being detained by the officers of State Committee for National Security after allegedly receiving money while filming a video about a cafe in Jalal-Abad in the south of the country that did not meet sanitary and epidemiological requirements. In 2022 and 2023, authorities charged Zholbolduyeva with several episodes and banned her from blogging. However, in May 2023, the ban was lifted and a one-year probation period was imposed on some episodes.
