The court in Almaty accepted for consideration a claim for recovery of compensation for moral damage by a doctor of the Regional Ophthalmological Hospital in Shymkent against Gulzhanat Primbetova, editor-in-chief of the news website KYN.kz. The reason for the lawsuit was a video published on April 29 in the media outlet’s Instagram account from a resident of the Turkestan region, in which he showed the conflict that occurred between him and the medical staff during the reception at the hospital. The plaintiff believes that the journalist, without checking the facts, disseminated inaccurate information, and illegally used her image. The plaintiff asks the court to order the editorial office to remove the video, publish a refutation, publicly apologise, and compensate for the moral damage caused.
