A criminal case for «discrediting» the army (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was initiated against Yakov Ovchinnikov, the photographer from Perm who left Russia. On June 28, his relatives were interrogated, and the new owner of his former flat had a search conducted at his place. It is unknown what became the reason for the criminal prosecution. In April 2022, Ovchinnikov was fined under a similar administrative article (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation) for a post about the war. He filmed an anti-war rally on February 24, was detained at another anti-war rally on March 6, and has filmed actions abroad since emigrating.
