The spouses A. Kurmantozhina and H. Khamiryan filed a lawsuit with the court in Almaty to protect honour, dignity, and business reputation against the owners of four media outlets — Halyq Uni Media (halyq-uni.kz), Matritca KZ (matritca.kz), Politic Media (qonaev.info), and Qazaq Today (Qazaq.Today). The reason for the lawsuit was the republication on July 26, 2022 of another website’s publication that an Iranian citizen, using connections with the ex-president’s brother, had deprived about a hundred entrepreneurs of their property. The claims include publication of a refutation, removal of the publication from media websites, and compensation for moral damage.
