On December 11, 2023, the head of the website azerinfo.az Ibrahim Gumbatov (Ibrahim Gubadoglu) was detained. The Ministry of Internal Affairs press service reports that Gumbatov was detained on the basis of citizens’ complaints. The head of the website is accused of publishing materials discrediting individuals and extorting money from them by threatening to publish dirt. The Ministry of Internal Affairs informs that Gumbatov was arrested for a period of 4 months. The website azerinfo.az published materials containing accusations of corruption and violations of law against many officials.
