The editor-in-chief of Uralskaya Nedelya Lukpan Akhmedyarov was summoned to the Uralsk City Police Department in connection with a criminal case initiated on the claim of the prosecutor’s office for the publication «Land scandal in Uralsk — the prosecutor’s mother became the owner of five land plots» (Uralskaya Nedelya, 27.11.2020). The investigation is being conducted under the article of the Criminal Code «disclosure of data of pre-trial proceedings or closed court proceedings». Lukpan Akhmedyarov is on trial as a witness with the right to defence. The investigator asked three questions regarding the publication, after which she took an undertaking from the journalist on the inadmissibility of disclosure of data of pre-trial investigation in the criminal case.
