Journalist and media manager Andrey Aliaksandrau was declared a suspect in tax evasion causing damage on a large scale (Part 2 of Article 243 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). «He refused to testify. He pleaded not guilty», — the journalist’s lawyer said. Aliaksandrau and his girlfriend Iryna Zlobina were detained in Minsk on January 12, 2021, and accused of financing protests (Parts 1 and 2 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). In early July, Aliaksandrau was charged with a new case under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (treason). Belarusian human rights activists declared him a political prisoner.
